Information we handle

• Accounts: your name, display name, email address, login method, and information you add to your profile. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier to create or access your VINNumber.Info account. We do not use Google sign-in information for advertising.
• Vehicle contributions: vehicle details, descriptions, VIN-related information, photos, image edits, and the account associated with an upload. Photos may contain identifying details. Approved vehicle entries and their images can be shown to other visitors according to the site's gallery access rules.
• Membership and activity: subscription status, purchase and gallery-view activity, and remaining viewing quota.
• Technical data: IP address, browser and device information, page requests, security logs, and cookies needed for login, sessions, and site functions.
• Messages and payments: information you send through our contact form, plus payment and transaction status. Card payments are processed by Stripe, which receives the information needed to process a payment.

Why we use this information

We use account and contribution data to provide the services you request, manage memberships and gallery access, publish vehicle reference material, answer messages, and process payments. We use technical and activity information to operate the site, protect accounts and images, and prevent misuse.

Google services and analytics

Google Sign-In is optional. We use the basic Google account information described above only to identify and authenticate you on VINNumber.Info. On the live website, Google Analytics measures website usage by default unless you reject analytics. Its tag may set analytics cookies, and Google may receive device, browser, page, and cookie information. You can turn analytics off at any time using Cookie settings in the footer. The staging website does not load Google Analytics. We do not currently display Google ads.

Cookies and external websites

Essential cookies support login, site functions, and security. On the live site, Google Analytics may use analytics cookies until you reject analytics. You can change this choice with Cookie settings in the footer or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies may stop login and some site features from working.

Some pages link to external services, including our vehicle-history partner. If you follow one of these links, that service receives your visit and handles information under its own privacy policy. We do not send your VINNumber.Info account details to the partner simply because you view an entry on this site.

Who receives information

We use hosting and technical service providers to run the site, Stripe to process card payments, Google for optional sign-in and live-site analytics, and email services to deliver messages. Public vehicle contributions are visible to visitors as described above. These providers may process information outside your country under their own service terms and applicable safeguards.

Your choices and rights

You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal data, or raise another privacy concern through our contact page. Depending on the circumstances, you may also have rights to object to or restrict processing and to receive a copy of your data. If you are in the United Kingdom, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
